Who is The Art Scavenger?

Hi! My name is Naomi, and I’m The Art Scavenger. I scour the public domain in search of images to use in my collage sheets.

My elementary school-age daughter and I started art journaling during the dog days of the pandemic in 2020. We turned to it as an escape and something pass the time while stuck at home. I have always gravitated toward the art of collage, so feel it is one the best ways to express myself creatively. However, we found ourselves lacking in materials. After searching the internet I discovered treasure troves of public domain images. The only problem was that it took me hours upon hours to gather and format the images into usable collage sheets. While I found many sites that offered up images that could be downloaded individually, very few sites offered free collage sheets. I decided to change that.

I am continually amazed by the beautiful images I find in the public domain. Many of them are illustrations by artists of a bygone era when photography was still high tech, or even nonexistent, and much still had to be drawn by hand. I enjoy helping these brilliant pieces of artwork come to light and live another life.
